The Saturn/Uranus Square.
If this alignment’s name sounds familiar, it’s because it’s the significant one that colored the kairos all last year, with exact connections between the planets occurring on February 17, June 14, and December 24.
And while Saturn and Uranus weren’t slated to come back to an alignment of exactitude since then, they are very (very!) close to it. In fact over the past few weeks, they have been less than 1 degree of orb away from this style of meet-up.
It’s surprising that more astrologers—including yours truly—haven’t been giving this that much “coverage.” It’s funny to me because now that I’m thinking about it, it feels so obvious that over the last little while it’s been one of the planetary archetypes that can describe the push/pull we may have been experiencing and witnessing. This itself feels so meta-Saturn/Uranus, consistent with what it invites: the experience of how when you shift your perspective and something bursts forth into your consciousness that you hadn’t much considered, how that thing seems like such an obvious and integral thing that you can’t believe you couldn’t see it before since it really was “right there” all along. Does that sound familiar to anything you’ve experienced recently?
Should this help you to give context to what you are witnessing, I wanted to dedicate this week’s Stellar Insights to this alignment.
The square-off between Saturn and Uranus brings a lot of tension, including between the old guard vs. the vanguard, past vs. future, maintaining existing structures vs. breaking them up, and a desire for things to stay as they are vs. wanting to revolutionize them.
Saturn gives form to things and Uranus is related to out-of-the-blue events and awareness that shake us up: and with that, these past weeks may have seemed quite colored by surprises and shocks. As you navigate the next few weeks, orient by expecting the unexpected and being open to surprises, even being surprised by yourself. Look at things from fresh eyes to perceive things all that may otherwise get overlooked when you see things from a rote perspective. Be open to the pivot and the detour, being observant of what novel experiences and awareness they may yield.
Remember that while squares in astrology reflect crisis points, it can be in the crisis that we discover a path forward that yields evolution and healing. A lexicon look can help shed some light. The Chinese term for “crisis” is composed of two characters, one signifying danger and the other a change point. Therefore, the tension and resistance that we experience during an astrological square alignment such as the one involving Saturn and Uranus does have the potential to become a catalyst for powerful and novel outcomes.
I’d invite you reflect upon any themes that emerged for you over the past few weeks that seem radically similar to ones you experienced last year. Consider how you’ve surprised yourself, and how you have been desiring to create structures that gift you more freedom of expression. Also, look to see how you’ve become more resilient, and the tools you’ve adopted to help you reduce stress when unexpected events arise.
Take the time to reflect upon the following: What molds are I breaking out of? How are I becoming innovative in creating solutions that allow me to experience more freedom? What new insights do I have about how things in my life are interconnected?
Doing so may be instrumental to building more confidence and a deeper sense of knowingness. This is, of course, helpful at any time. Yet, give this week’s connection between the Sun and Venus with Saturn as well as the elevation of Saturn’s themes throughout the collective (as it moves towards its station on October 23), these may be very timely reflections that can help you further author your life in the way that you are sensing you more truly desire.
Have a lovely week!
xxStephanie
