Here are some insights about the opportunities and challenges that this week’s astrology may offer. May they help you make the most of this moment. Remember that if you would ever like to see how the planetary movements are inspiring you, based upon your personal astrology chart, we can explore that in a Stellar Guidance Session.
Additionally if you’re looking for insights into the month, through the lens of astrology and tarot, check out the latest episode of the So Divine! podcast, which I co-host with astrologer and tarot muse Megan Skinner. As May begins, we may find ourselves having a wavering relationship with the concepts of may and maybe.
On the one hand, with Pluto stationing retrograde on Monday, it could seem that out of necessity we need to excavate the surface to see where we truly stand, and then root ourselves in that spot with a deeper sense of unwavering commitment. And yet, as we’re still in the midst of Eclipses, there’s a haze that shrouds our ability to clearly see, with a declaration of a significant yes or no seeming premature. Being with the tension, watching it, and seeing where it leads you could feel stressful in the moment but could also offer jewels of insight that can help you to come to resolutions that deeply shift the ground upon which you stand.
During the first few days of the week, the days following Pluto’s shifting directions, it feels important to watch and witness what’s being unearthed (and actively be part of the process when need be). It can be quite rocky during times when the Plutonian archetype is loud and beckoning our attention as it calls for us to cut to the core, mine below the surface, and surrender what is truly past its expiration date.
Be kind to yourself and others. Breathe deep. Connect with the sensuality and rhythms of nature. Be in awe. All this can help create a centering space to ride these transformative and intense waves.
This Plutonian pull is not necessarily something that’s just emerging nor will it completely recede into the background after this week completes. That’s because Pluto squared the April 20 Solar Eclipse and will also square expansive Jupiter on May 17. And with that, we may find that we’re opening up to experiences which, as they demand us to be present to issues of power and/or control and/or the cycles of life, force us to find a way to be with roiling emotions and dive deeper into ourselves to discover the cavern of our resourcefulness.
Monday also feature the Mercury cazimi (the Sun uniting with Mercury), a day in which ideas burn bright and communication can feel supercharged. Pay attention to your thoughts while also watching that you don’t get stuck in your head. Be aware of the wisdom that your senses are orienting you towards.
And now, the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse. Featuring the Sun in practical Taurus and the Moon in passionate Scorpio, this lunation on May 5 helps us to forge an awareness that what we see—what has form—is reliant upon that which is unseen but deeply felt. What we are called on to appreciate during this time is that the beauty we see is not just on the surface but also exists in the places that are more underground and buried, and from which we may often shy away. See how truly looking for the hidden, and relating with it, can open up new ways to proceed that can have you feel an expanded, rather than a restricted, sense of security.
Between the Scorpio Lunar Eclipse and the Pluto station, we may find ourselves not able to look away from the things towards which we may usually turn a blind eye. It may feel more alluring than usual to look at the sh*t—whether our own, another person’s, or society’s. Ideally we won’t approach this as aloof rubbernecking; rather, perhaps it will stir something so deep within us that in our not able to unsee what we have seen, it opens our hearts and compels us to be more deeply compassionate.
One last note: this Lunar Eclipse is a relative mirror to the one that occurred on November 8, with that one featuring the Sun in Scorpio and the Moon in Taurus, at a zodiacal spot only one-plus degree away from this one. As such, as it will activate the same spheres of your astrology chart, you may find that further insights into situations, events, and realizations that occurred in November emerge. Greater understanding can surface through approaching things from a shifted perspective.
Wishing you a beautiful week,
And one in which you find more awareness about your mays and maybes,
xxStephanie
