New Moons signify a time for beginnings. When this celestial event occurs in Scorpio what we can initiate are the ways in which we can connect more deeply to our essential nature, finding the inherent resources that may reside in the inner sanctum of our hearts and minds. Scorpio represents that which is hidden, the unseen, the things that are kept in the dark, including our deepest emotions. When you say or feel “I don’t want to go there” what you are likely alluding to is often at least partially the realm of Scorpio.
During a Scorpio New Moon, subjects considered to be taboo may rise to the surface. If your natural reflex is to turn a blind eye to these, allow yourself to contemplate them for a moment, even if at a distance. You may end up finding them a great source of learning; just understanding why it is that they cause aversion itself is a powerful lesson.
Do an inner survey of your desires and see which ones you may have cast aside for fear of owning the full extent of your passion, and your power. Consider how you can own and stand for them, and integrate them into the weave of your life so that you can feel more complete and whole, and enlivened.
Communication with others is often tricky territory during deep Scorpio times as we don’t necessarily trust that our secrets are safe with just anyone. And while this is a gorgeous time for inner diving, if you feel that you’re gravitating towards walling yourself off and know inherently that’s really not the direction you want to go, see how you can step out of that pattern. Call up that trusted friend, make a date with your sibling who knows you so well, and/or schedule an additional session with your counselor. It’s a great time to explore our depths and sometimes sharing that with another is not only really comforting but can also forge a whole other level of connection within the relationship.
Unique Features of this Scorpio New Moon
This year’s Scorpio Moon opposes shake-it-up Uranus. As I like to say when Uranus is playing a starring role in the astrological climate: Stay Bouncy! To do so, don’t hold on too tightly to preconceived notions of the way things should be or proceed. Expect the unexpected and let yourself be surprised, whether by events that occur or how you feel about situations as they unfold. Find a new way to express yourself, one that brings you a greater sense of freedom and liberation from restriction. See where being adaptable can bring benefit.
Be careful to not maintain too rigid a stance as it could not only cause tension but could have you be more apt to have an outburst that you could later regret. Allow yourself more space to pivot should your plans unfold in a way that appears different than you anticipated (remembering that old adage “the best laid plans…” may serve us well). Remember that there are often numerous pathways to the same destination; as such, if you feel you are going off-course or off-script, question whether the fresh route you are taking is potentially one that may actually have you more fully embracing your unique needs, emotions, and talents. Consider ways that will allow you to embrace more freedom and independence, and how doing so can help you more authentically be and express who you are.
Another factor that colors this year’s Scorpio New Moon is Mars, which is hanging out (proverbially speaking) with both the Sun and the Moon. This could add to an instinctive desire to be in movement and get things done. Should attempts at achievement and assertion feel frustrated, there may also be a greater potential for short fuses at the moment. As such, watch your and others’ potential for ire. That’s not to say that anger is bad, not at all; it’s just important to express it as consciously as we can.
