Here are some insights about the opportunities and challenges that the Gemini New Moon offers, which I hope helps you make the most of the moment. Curiosity and wonder fill the air on the day of the Gemini Moon. It’s a time when learning and collecting information feels really nurturing. And yet, in that pursuit, it may seem as if our attention is pulled in a spectrum of directions; after all, things—whether large or small—may seem much more interesting, and captivate our awareness, when Gemini energy is strong.
The mercurial and seemingly fickle energy of Gemini is often on display during this New Moon period, amping up agitation and nervous energy. Be patient with yourself if you find it more difficult to make decisions while also making space for others if they seem to be more capricious than normal.
If you’re finding yourself indecisive, consider whether it’s because you are more clearly seeing the two sides of the proverbial coin and the fact that both of them have grace and value. Reflect upon whether it really is even necessary to choose between them; potentially you can create a structure where you are able to enjoy both paths.
Unique Features of this Gemini New Moon
This year’s Gemini New Moon makes a square alignment with Neptune in Pisces. And with this, we’re invited to discover ways to open to our intuition, and tune into the symbolic, mythic, and poetic. Balancing being logical and imaginative may serve us quite well.
Yet, it also seems important to stay grounded since the Gemini energy can inspire a fluttering of the mind and the Neptune energy can make us exceptionally dreamy or spacey; let yourself feel inspired while also staying present in your body to avoid possible mishaps and accidents.
Also, given the Neptune tie-in, channeling compassion and empathy may be more accessible. At the same time, with a heightened penchant for perfectionism and an instinct for the ideal, it’s important to watch for the appearance of illusions as well as disillusionment.
Additionally, less than 12 hours before this New Moon, the planet Saturn began its retrograde cycle. As I’ve shared before, including in this week’s Stellar Insights, the days before and after a planet appears to shift directions, it’s as if it is standing still in the sky, moving ever so slowly—and with this, the invitations, archetypes, and lessons it embodies appear to be amplified in our awareness and lived experiences. Given it’s Saturn that’s stationing, being aware of cause and effect, adopting diligence, honoring the value of time, prizing sustainability, ensuring alignment, and revering the wisdom that comes with age/experience still are salient themes around the time of this New Moon.
This month’s New Moon falls at 26 degrees of Gemini (the position of the Sun and Moon). While everyone experiences the energies of a New Moon, if you have planets or pivotal points (i.e., Ascendant/Descendant or IC/Midheaven) around this degree in Gemini or the other mutable signs—Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces—it may impact you more intensely.
