Here are some insights about the opportunities and challenges that this week’s astrology may offer us collectively. If you’re looking to access personalized astrological and self-care insights to help you navigate the now, I’d love to do a Stellar Guidance Session with you.
As the week begins, we’re in the opening stages of Aquarius Season, with the Sun having entered this collective-, logistic-, humanitarian- and technology-oriented sign on Sunday. Not just that: but with the Sun uniting with reveal-what’s-hidden Pluto on Tuesday, this week promises to be one of intensity, where we attune to that which resides behind the shrouds and below the surface.
Here’s what I shared about the yearly Pluto/Sun Conjunction, also referred to as the Pluto cazimi, in my Well + Good article about cazimis:
When Pluto connects with the sun, it's a powerful moment to let things go—especially that which has reached its expiration date and may be holding us back from connecting to our innermost essence. Pluto is the planet of transformation, power, death, and rebirth, and all of these themes may surface more readily under the Pluto cazimi.
This alignment encourages us to revel in the dark and embrace our own shadow sides, explore power dynamics, and dive into the buried treasures that typically lie hidden in our subconsciousness. Be aware of what’s coming to the surface for you and the honest truths that may be revealed.
While there may be moments in which we want to turn away—after all, facing our fears, acknowledging the insensitivity (let alone brutality) that exists within humankind, and tapping into the potential of existential survival threats is challenging (to say the least). Yet, as much as we can, it seems that we will benefit by trying not to turn a blind eye to things that trigger and/or provoke, things that are difficult to admit or face (of course, while taking deep care of ourselves).
After all, what we don’t see doesn’t disappear anyway. It just becomes a shadow submerged, which slinks around in our individual and collective psyche. Without reveal, it can’t be healed.
With this planetary union in Aquarius, one way we can find the strength to be with our deep fears, face the cycles of life, and access our deep fortitude/resourcefulness is through connecting to community. Instead of isolating, reach out. Come together, honor networks. Remember that often it takes a village—and that the village is a force whose potency can be exponentially greater than the sum of its individual parts.
One final note about this alignment, again reflecting that the Sun and Pluto come together in Aquarius, is that we may get a glimpse into the darker side of technology, power struggles related to social networks, and monied forces who are looking to control information networks. The timing seems “impeccable” when we reflect that on January 19, TikTok is framed to “go dark” (how Plutonian!) for 170 million users in the United States.
What will its fate be? Will those in governmental power now shift their view? Who will position themselves to buy it? Will someone create a new version? Only time will tell. (For an interesting glimpse at some of the current behind-the-scenes of this as well as what’s being framed as a “people’s bid”—an Aquarian term in my view—see this article entitled “Is the TikTok Ban a Chance to Rethink the Whole Internet?” featured in The New Yorker.
Another thing to be aware of this week—with Mercury opposing Mars—is how, and whether, our words are aligned with our actions (and/or vice versa). With both making sweet connections to shake-it-up Uranus, widening our lens to perceive newfangled perspectives that are other than our usuals and go-to’s may help us use our voice more efficiently to champion what we desire. See how staying bouncy can point you towards formulas you hadn’t before considered.
May you find that some peace and clarity emerge from below the surface this week!
xxStephanie
